Buying a heater? A full bucket of rocks already ships free in the box, you don't need to add this too. This listing is for restocking once your original rocks wear out.

When to replace your rocks

Sauna rocks break down with heat cycling and moisture over time. Inspect them when you change your heating element, and swap out any that are cracked, crumbling, or coated in mineral buildup from hard water. Most home saunas need a full refresh every 1 to 2 years of regular use.

How to load them

Rinse the rocks to clear dust before loading. Set the larger stones at the bottom of the heater and the smaller ones on top, leaving room for air to move freely, packing them too tight cuts down how long your element lasts. Full guidance is in your heater's manual.

Wet or dry

Run dry straight out of the box, or ladle a small amount of clean water over the hot rocks for löyly, the classic sauna steam. See can you pour water on an electric sauna heater for how to do it safely.

One bucket size fits all four Procraft models. If you're not sure which heater you have, see compare all four Procraft heaters or what size sauna heater you need.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to buy rocks separately?

No, not right away. Every Procraft heater ships with a full bucket of rocks included. This listing is for restocking once yours wear out.

How often should I replace sauna rocks?

Every 1 to 2 years of regular use, or sooner if they crack, crumble, or develop heavy mineral buildup.

Can I use regular landscaping rocks instead?

No. Ordinary rocks can trap moisture and shatter under heat, which is a safety risk. Only use rocks designed for sauna heaters.
