Measure the inside of your sauna. We work out the volume and match it to the room size each heater is rated for in the manufacturer's manual.
Glass walls, stone or an uninsulated room need more heat. If you are between two sizes, go up rather than down, or send us your measurements.
The Procraft 9kW wall-mounted sauna heater is built for large sauna rooms and extreme cold climates, making it ideal for outdoor saunas and demanding Canadian winters.
The 9kW suits large sauna rooms, outdoor saunas and extreme cold climates. If your room is between two sizes, go up rather than down. Work yours out with our heater sizing guide, or send us your interior dimensions and we will point you to the right model.
This is a traditional sauna heater. It runs as a dry sauna out of the box, and because it holds a bed of rocks you can ladle water over them for steam whenever you want it. Pour a small ladle at a time over the rocks only, keeping water off the casing, the element and the controls, and follow the instructions in the heater manual. Full detail in can you pour water on an electric sauna heater.
This heater runs on its own dedicated circuit. A licensed electrician sizes the wire and breaker to the heater rating on the rating plate and wires it to your local electrical code. It is not designed to run from a general-purpose outlet, and correct installation is what keeps the warranty valid. See sauna electrical requirements.
From the manufacturer's user manual for the SAB-HN series. The manual does not print a kW rating against each model number, so the table shows all four models; match your heater by the model number on its rating plate. Where the manual does not state a figure it says so below. Other details on this page, such as rocks in the box and the warranty, are Procraft's own terms of sale. Download the user manual (PDF) or read the installation and safety page.

Figures are transcribed from Table 1 (page 9), Table 2 and Chart 1C (page 11) of the manufacturer's user manual. The room volume column is headed "m2" in the manual but the heading reads "Sauna Room Volume", so it is shown here as cubic metres. The wire sizes are printed exactly as the manufacturer gives them; 9 AWG and 7 AWG are not standard North American conductor sizes, so your electrician selects the next standard size that satisfies the breaker rating and your local code. Nothing in the table is converted or inferred. Match your heater to a column by the model number on its rating plate.
The heater is wall-mounted and rated for indoor or outdoor sauna rooms. Follow the manual for minimum clearances from benches, walls and anything that can burn (all of them are on our installation and safety page), then load the rocks so air can move through them rather than packing them tight. We install saunas regularly, and you can see how that works on our installation page.
